Lessons in Weeding by Jamie D. Stacey is a flash fiction story about self-care in the form of a How-To manual. The story discusses societal body standards and the hardships that come with trying to follow them. The ending ultimately encourages the reader to embrace their true beauty and nature. A more literal approach to visualizing the story, the original photograph of the (fake) skeleton integrated with bold typography with weeds growing from it is meant to emphasize that life is too short to become caught up with societal standards or shaming. "Remember, sometimes weeds in a garden look just fine."
