Lights, camera, retro! A video store needed rebranding from a logo that was flat and generic, with limited advertising presence, and no brand standards. I identified the target audience as collectors of retro technologies and established the brand’s attributes as fun, nostalgic, and bold. From there I built the brand standard manual, designed the new logo, and created two ad campaigns. For the logo, I created an abstract V and A, using positive and negative space to give it depth and dimension, resembling a reel of film. For the ad campaigns, I wanted the concept to be a playful ode to the dying art of the video store, so I used nostalgic imagery, bright colors, geometric shapes, and textural elements to achieve the desired aesthetic.
VHS and chill, y'all!
